The future of America’s legal leaders are not just the law students working day-in and day-out to complete their Juris Doctorates. They are also the high school students who are only starting to gain an interest in the law and how it shapes our great country.

In order to encourage more young, innovative minds to grow into tomorrow’s most trusted legal professionals, Attorney Jesse Zambrano has helped launch the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) Pre-Law Institute at the beginning of the last school year. Serving also as the President of the PSJA ISD School Board, Attorney Zambrano has teamed up with other board members, attorneys, and judges to create the excitingly in-depth program.

A total of 248 students applied and were accepted into the first class of the Pre-Law Institute, all with a penchant for the law. The programs they enjoyed included legal workshops, job shadowing opportunities in real law firms, attending actual sentencing hearings, and much more. It is Mr. Zambrano’s hope that integrating young students into the gears of the legal system early will prepare them better for the challenges of college and law school, where too many promising academics get discouraged and give up.

With the first class of the Pre-Law Institute being such a resounding success, Mr. Zambrano and the other board members are looking towards the future. A new goal is not only uplifting young students and pointing them down the path to a successful and important legal career, but also to benefit the community as a whole. In Attorney Zambrano’s own words, “Year two will be even more impressive.”
